Lecture 7:00PM
Recital 7:30PM
The bond that Schumann and Brahms forged when they met in 1853 was based in part on the artistic vision they shared. Peter H. Smith, Professor of Music and Department Chair, University of Notre Dame, will explore the relationship between Schumann and Brahms in terms of both their lives and musical compositions. The lecture is a preparation for the second part of the program – a live performance by Professor Tricia Park (violin) and Professor Daniel Schlosberg (piano) featuring sonatas by the two composers.
